The Senior Platform Engineer is a high-impact, hands-on role at the forefront of Quantium’s enterprise cloud engagements. You will design and build AWS platforms from first principles for some of Australia’s most recognised organisations, shaping how they scale securely and effectively in the cloud.

This is a visible role where your technical judgement directly influences client architecture decisions. You will work closely with client engineering, architecture, and security teams to design and implement AWS environments spanning account structure, IAM, networking, and core services.

While you will contribute to architecture and design, this is not a purely advisory role. You will actively build and implement infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), working alongside delivery teams to ensure solutions are realised in production.

The role blends deep AWS platform expertise with a strong consulting presence. It is suited to someone comfortable operating in complex enterprise environments, engaging directly with stakeholders, and translating architecture into practical, scalable outcomes.

How you will make an impact:

• Design and build AWS platforms from first principles, including account structure, IAM, networking, and core services
• Shape end-to-end AWS architecture for enterprise clients, influencing how they scale securely and effectively in the cloud
• Work directly with client engineering, architecture, and security teams in workshops and design discussions, contributing to key cloud decisions
• Implement infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), translating architecture into secure, scalable, production-ready environments
• Apply sound technical judgement across cost, performance, security, and maintainability, ensuring solutions work in real-world delivery
• Contribute to raising the bar through design reviews, reusable patterns, and mentoring, strengthening Quantium’s AWS capability

• You’ve built AWS environments from the ground up and are comfortable owning both design and implementation
• You are hands-on with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and can work directly in code alongside engineers
• You bring strong AWS fundamentals across IAM, networking, account strategy, and core services
• You combine architectural thinking with delivery pragmatism, knowing how to move from design to production effectively
• You’re comfortable working with clients, contributing to discussions, explaining trade-offs, and building credibility quickly
• You communicate clearly, take ownership, and operate with a broad platform mindset rather than a narrow specialisation
