Administrative Assistant (Part-Time)

Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand

We're looking for a capable and adaptable Administrative Assistant to join our Christchurch office for 20 to 25 hours per week), reporting to the Administration & Facilities Team Lead.

This is a varied, hands-on role at the centre of a fast-moving aerospace company, supporting the day-to-day operations that help our teams do their best work. You'll play an important role in keeping the office running smoothly while creating a professional experience for our people, customers and visitors.

No two days are the same. One moment you could be preparing for an important customer visit, the next updating key Excel trackers, coordinating office supplies, helping deliver a team event, or solving an unexpected problem. If you enjoy variety, take pride in the details, and are willing to jump in wherever needed, you'll fit right in.

What you'll do

  • Deliver a professional front-of-house experience, welcoming everyone from new starters to senior leaders, customers and international visitors.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the office, including workplace presentation, meeting room preparation, kitchen and shared spaces, office supplies, and facilities coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and Excel-based tracking systems.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, team events, meetings, and internal initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Administration & Facilities team, helping ensure the office operates efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively across the business, adapting to changing priorities and supporting a wide range of activities as required.

About you

We're looking for someone with the right attitude who is ready to get stuck in. You don't need to know everything on day one. We're more interested in someone who is practical, reliable, organised and keen to learn.

You'll bring:

  • Previous experience in administration, office support, customer service, hospitality, or a similar environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Excel and everyday administrative systems.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for help.
  • A calm, professional approach when dealing with senior leaders, customers, visitors and the wider team.
  • The flexibility to thrive in a changing environment and confidently adjust priorities when needed.

Why join us?

You'll be part of a team helping build advanced aerospace technology while supporting a workplace where engineers, technicians and business teams can do their best work.

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of an ambitious, fast-growing company where your contribution will be visible every day. Whether you're helping deliver an important customer visit, supporting a new starter's first day, or keeping the workplace running smoothly, you'll play a key role in enabling the team to achieve extraordinary things.

If you enjoy variety, take pride in helping others succeed, and want to be part of a business pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're available to start in the near future and are ready to jump in, we'd love to hear from you.

About Dawn Aerospace

Dawn Aerospace is a space transportation company with a purpose.
Our mission is to enable the next generation of space users by providing more sustainable and scalable ways to access and move around in space. We believe this access, in the form of a transportation network, will fundamentally change what’s possible from space. We currently focus on three areas of space transportation:

  • In-space propulsion
We're a leading supplier of turnkey green propulsion systems for various classes of satellites. Our systems utilise safe, accessible propellants and we have over 170 of these propulsion units on more than 40 operational satellites already. A further 200 units are in production.
  • In-space servicing
Coupled with our propulsion expertise, we are ensuring that our customers' satellites are refuellable. In the coming years, Dawn will offer a refueling service to enable life extension of customer satellites. This new market is aligned with our sustainability goal to ensue a clean and safe space for everyone!
  • Spaceplane
We are developing the fastest and highest-flying aircraft ever to take off from a runway, combining the extreme performance of rocket propulsion with the reusability of conventional airplanes to enable high-frequency, low-cost access to sub-orbital space.

Our international teams are distributed across four locations: the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, and the USA.
