The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused IT Services Engineer to join our IT team.
Reporting to the Head of IT Service Delivery, you will provide Level 2 desktop, endpoint and Modern Workplace support to employees across RCC’s offices and construction sites.
This is a hands-on and varied position covering laptops, mobile devices, printers, meeting-room technology, Microsoft 365, user access, endpoint configuration and standard business applications. You will also serve as an escalation point for our Level 1 team and help strengthen RCC’s technical capability through proactive support, practical problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
The role will suit someone who enjoys getting out from behind the service desk, building relationships with users and taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide Level 2 technical support across Windows endpoints, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, printers, scanners, mobile devices and standard business applications.
- Troubleshoot application, access, connectivity, VPN, Citrix and mobile-device issues both remotely and in person.
- Act as an escalation point for Level 1 analysts, ensuring tickets are progressed and clearly documented.
- Provide approachable, responsive support to employees across all levels of the business.
- Support project sites with technology establishment, office moves, decommissioning, audits and urgent onsite requirements.
- Assist with new-starter technology setups and onboarding.
- Diagnose issues beyond documented steps, identify root causes and coordinate escalation to infrastructure, cyber, applications or external vendors.
- Support endpoint configuration, device deployment and software installation.
- Assist with asset lifecycle management, including equipment builds, returned-device checks, redeployment readiness and accurate assignment records.
- Maintain and improve technical documentation, standard operating procedures, user guides and knowledge articles.
- Provide users with regular, clear updates while their requests are being resolved.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to practical service improvements.
About you
You will bring a positive, solutions-focused approach and genuinely enjoy helping people get the most from their technology.
To be successful, you will have:
- At least two years’ experience in an IT Service Desk, Desktop Support, Modern Workplace Support or equivalent Level 1 and Level 2 technical support role.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows devices and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory or Entra ID, Intune, MFA and remote-support tools.
- Experience troubleshooting basic network, internet, VPN and Citrix issues.
- The ability to investigate beyond standard troubleshooting steps, isolate root causes and identify the appropriate escalation pathway.
- Experience supporting employees across multiple locations, including hands-on device deployment and onsite troubleshooting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A calm and organised approach within a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Good prioritisation, time management and attention to detail.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to the broader team.
- A current Australian driver licence.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
A diploma or degree in IT will be highly regarded, as will ITIL Foundation, Microsoft 365, Endpoint Administrator, Azure or Entra certifications.
Experience within construction, engineering or another multi-site or field-based workforce environment would also be advantageous.
