About wiq
Wiq is the partnership between Quantium and Woolworths Group, bringing together Quantium's data science and advanced analytics capability with Woolworths' scale and retail expertise to reimagine retail by solving the most complex problems using data and analytics. As a team, we leverage Agile ways of working to help our team develop their skills while also making sure our team is focusing on solving the most complex problems for both our customers and team.
As the largest retailer in Australia and New Zealand, Woolworths Group serves over 20 million customers every week. The work within wiqRetail spans across the Woolworths business—from customer loyalty and personalisation to eCommerce, store operations, supply chain, ranging, and pricing.
The Role
We're looking for a Data Scientist to join the wiq team and play a crucial role in delivering sophisticated data science solutions that drive value for the Woolworths Group. This position combines technical expertise with growing commercial acumen to translate complex business problems into actionable analytical insights.
You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand their business challenges, design and implement analytical solutions, and communicate insights that drive measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver sophisticated analytics solutions that solve complex business problems
- Deliver analytical workstreams, from problem framing through to solution implementation
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key Woolworths stakeholders
- Translate technical concepts and analytical insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Contribute to building team capabilities
- Ensure high quality standards and best practices are maintained across deliverables
- Deliver innovation in analytical approaches and methodologies
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years' experience in data science and analytics
- Strong programming and querying skills in languages such as Python, R, SAS or SQL
- A deep understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proven ability to translate complex analytical concepts into business insights
- A track record of delivering high-impact analytics solutions
- A degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
