We’re looking for a senior engineering leader to take on a high-impact role within WIQ, our long-term joint venture between Woolworths Group and Quantium.

WIQ brings together large-scale retail data with advanced analytics, engineering, and AI, operating as a single, embedded team within the Woolworths business. It builds and runs the platforms and solutions that power critical decisions across buying and merchandising, supply chain, and customer analytics, combining real-world scale with complex, high-impact problem solving.

In this role, you’ll lead a 30+ engineer organisation across the Buying & Merchandising domain, shaping how technology drives better commercial outcomes. Sitting at the intersection of engineering, data, AI, and business, you’ll be accountable for delivery, people leadership, and strategic influence.

You’ll have the opportunity to elevate an already capable team by coaching emerging leaders, strengthening execution, and acting as a trusted partner to non-technical stakeholders. Your impact will come from aligning teams, navigating complexity, and connecting engineering work directly to business value.

This role is suited to a leader who thrives in ambiguity, leads through influence, and is motivated by building capability at scale, not just delivering technology.

How you will make an impact

  • Lead and develop a 30+ engineering organisation across Quantium and Woolworths, including multiple engineering managers
  • Drive delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions that improve buying and merchandising decisions
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders to shape strategy and translate business priorities into engineering outcomes
  • Coach and uplift a cohort of talented, early-stage leaders to improve capability, alignment, and performance
  • Improve operational effectiveness across teams, ensuring consistent and reliable delivery
  • Advance engineering practices, standards, and ways of working across the WIC environment
  • Navigate and align across a complex joint venture structure to deliver outcomes at scale

The superpowers you will bring to the team

  • Proven experience leading engineering organisations of 30+ people, including managing managers
  • Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of coaching and developing other leaders
  • Ability to operate as a strategic partner, influencing senior stakeholders and connecting technology to business value
  • Solid technical foundation with the ability to guide system design and challenge teams without needing to be hands-on
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed, or enterprise environments where stakeholder alignment is critical
  • Pragmatic and commercially minded, able to balance delivery, quality, and business impact
  • High credibility, judgement, and presence, with the ability to build trust quickly across teams and leadership groups
