About Octopus Deploy:

Octopus Deploy sets the standard for Continuous Delivery, empowering software teams to deliver value in an agile way. Over 4,000 organizations globally –  including Ubisoft, Xero, Stack Overflow, NASA, and Disney – rely on our Continuous Delivery, GitOps, and release orchestration solutions.

Founded in Australia in 2012, our team of over 300 Octonauts now spans the globe. We combine high growth and big ambitions with a sustainable, balanced working environment. Our revenue has grown consistently between 20–50% every year for the past 9 years, and we’ve been profitable for 10 out of the past 12 years. Octopus now provides the industry's most comprehensive Continuous Delivery solution for organizations operating at scale.

We’ve been remote-first since 2015 and work with an uncommon level of transparency. You can read our public handbook to learn how we work. We have a transparent approach to compensation that ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same, with well-defined career pathways. We foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-trust environment. We leave our job titles at the door and focus on doing what’s best for our customers and team. Our leaders never shy away from answering the tough questions at our all-hands calls or in 1:1s. We conduct interviews and onboarding virtually as part of being a remote-first company.

About the role:

Forget dusty spreadsheets. This is where finance gets exciting.

You'll be the ultimate connector, sitting at the intersection of Finance and Data, bringing a sharp commercial mindset and genuine business intuition to every challenge. Your mission: turn complex commercial numbers into clear, fast business insights that leaders across Octopus Deploy use to make decisions and move quickly.

You won't just report the past. You'll be a proactive business partner across Go-to-Market, Product, and R&D, owning the numbers end-to-end and shaping our future. If you love building, automating, and continuously raising the bar, this role is your stage.

To help our teams work together effectively, this remote position requires you to be located and authorized to work in Australia.

What you’ll do:

We believe in doing fewer things of higher quality, and a strong bias for action. You'll take full ownership of these critical workflows and ship meaningful improvements.

Co-own the financial and business performance data, end to end: Partner with Accounting, RevOps, and the Data team to co-own the quality and velocity of our core financial data and metrics. You'll get hands-on by writing SQL queries to pull and validate data directly from our source systems (drivetrain, Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake). This approach ensures quality data at velocity, creating less noise for other teams and more speed for Finance.

Be the integrity engine: Own and champion our core finance metrics and driver-based forecasts: ARR, invoicing, headcount, gross margin, and more. You'll be the key driver of the quarterly forecasting cycle, partnering directly with budget owners to keep our numbers clear, reliable, and auditable.

Lead our automation agenda: You'll tackle our biggest operational headaches. A major focus will be automating the entire sales commissions process, along with monthly and ad hoc reporting and budget vs actuals. Less manual work, more impact.

Build the Business Performance channel: Launch and manage a dedicated FP&A requests and business performance channel. You'll be the centralised hub for incoming commercial queries, helping the business prioritise and get answers fast.

Think forward, not just backward: Develop a churn early-warning view and collaborate with Technical Success and RevOps to drive specific, high-impact retention actions. This is what it looks like to be a true business partner rather than a reporting function.

Building the road to IPO: We're not just looking toward the future; we're building it. The quality of our forecasting, financial reporting, and data infrastructure is now mission-critical as we look at an IPO in the near horizon. You will play a direct, high-leverage role in building and maintaining the robust foundations that get us there, making this a truly career-defining opportunity.

Your background:

We prioritise attitude, curiosity, and collaboration. Technical skills are important, but how you show up is what truly sets you apart.

Mindset first:

  • You're driven to understand the why behind the numbers and genuinely committed to data integrity.
  • You translate complex financial information into clear, non-technical stories that empower Octonauts around you.
  • You naturally seek out ways to learn, automate, and improve what already exists.
  • You demonstrate grit by pushing through under ambiguity, moving targets, and problems without obvious answers or perfect information.

What you bring:

  • 4 to 6 years in FP&A or SaaS analytics is ideal, though we're open to motivated candidates with 3 to 5 years who meet the technical bar and demonstrate the right attitude.
  • Experience with workflow automation tools like Zapier or scripting languages such as SQL and/or Python is a strong plus with the ability to independently query production databases in our tech stack.
  • A fair understanding of core SaaS metrics (ARR, cohorts, and the like) would be highly beneficial.

Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
