The Opportunity:

Janus Electric is revolutionising heavy transport by converting diesel trucks to electric and building a national swappable battery network. We are scaling fast and need a skilled, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to help bring our next generation of zero-emission trucks to life at our Central Coast facility.

We are seeking for a Mechanical Engineer who will support the Engineering Team in planning, designing, analysing, and implementing engineering projects. This role provides exposure to various aspects of mechanical engineering, including research, development, design, and testing, while allowing you to develop technical expertise and gain valuable industry experience

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical components and systems.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and project proposals.
  • Conduct research and analysis to improve product performance and efficiency.
  • Assist with prototype development, testing, and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Participate in the review and interpretation of technical drawings, CAD models, Stress Analysis, and engineering specifications.
  • Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) documentation and reviews.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Support compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR) and other regulatory requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or final year of study).
  • 3+ years' experience in engineering, preferably in automotive, rail, air, or heavy-transport products.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and design principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, SolidEdge, or similar), with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience gained during coursework or industry.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to write clear technical reports and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and competency with MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Valid driver's licence preferred but not essential.
