The Opportunity:

Janus Electric is revolutionising heavy transport by converting diesel trucks to electric and building a national swappable battery network. We are scaling fast and need a skilled, detail-oriented Software Controls Engineer to help bring our next generation of zero-emission trucks to life at our Central Coast facility.

We are seeking for a Software Controls Engineer who will have a critical role to for batteries, charge stations and vehicles software for Janus requirements.This position is all about ensuring our innovative products perform reliably, keeping our customers on the move with minimal downtime. What You Will Do:

  • Writing test harnesses for embedded software in MATLAB and Simulink, mainly for safety-critical 
    control applications in electric vehicles and charge stations.
  • Source control in Git Hub.
  • Task management with JIRA.
  • Analysing existing software systems to find software defects.
  • Maintaining or refactoring existing test harnesses.
  • Building scripts to automate test harness generation with scripted iterations.
  • Maintaining continuous integration pipelines.
  • Writing project documentation.
  • Support production and aftersales as required, diagnose issues and provide solutions remotely 
    and onsite.
  • Support commissioning and testing of swappable batteries, charge stations, and electric vehicles 
    on site before release to customers
  • Flash controllers with the latest software, update configuration and calibration to suit customer 
    requirements.
  • Support improvements such as vehicle calibration, battery and charge station settings.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Software, or Information Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience commissioning or testing fixed plant or vehicle control systems.
  • MATLAB and Simulink experience, along with C and Python coding experience.
  • Experience with CANbus, PLC, vehicle controllers, and diagnostics.
  • Solar and battery storage experience.
  • Technical understanding of complex hardware and software systems, or the ability to learn complex systems and what makes them tick.
  • A disciplined attitude to closing out customer issues to 100%, with excellent issue resolution tracking, organisational, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with strong people, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision making, with strong research, analysis, and delegation skills.
