The Team You're Joining

• SFOC's Communications Division develops and executes comprehensive communication strategies that convey the organization's mission, policy priorities, and climate initiatives to diverse audiences. The division consists of four teams: Korean Communications, International Communications, Production, and Individual Giving.
• This role works closely with the Korea and Japan teams to strengthen SFOC's media presence, shape clear and compelling narratives around climate and energy transition, and support campaigns that influence policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the public.

 

How You'll Contribute

• Build and manage media relationships with key international outlets
• Research, draft, and pitch stories, press releases, media briefs, and fact sheets in English
• Monitor international media and analyze narrative trends, translating global discourse into strategic insights for the team
• Support joint communications planning with global NGOs, think tanks, and campaign partners
• Develop and execute media strategies around international climate moments such as COP, Climate Week, and IMO sessions
• Provide international communications support across pillar campaigns including LNG, coal, shipping, steel, and land use

 

Who We're Looking For

• Strong written English communication skills, with the ability to independently draft press releases, briefs, and pitches to a professional standard
• Native or professional fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of international media ecosystems, with experience engaging with journalists
• Genuine interest in and working knowledge of climate, energy, or environmental issues
• Ability to translate complex policy and technical issues into clear, compelling messaging for diverse audiences
• 2+ years of experience in PR, journalism, communications, or a related field

 

Nice to Have

• Experience at a media or PR agency
• Familiarity with climate, energy, or industrial policy topics
• Experience collaborating with international teams

• Workplace: hybrid, Tokyo office. Possible assignment to overseas offices, 4+ business trips per year including to Korea, and remote work available.
• Compensation: annual salary starting from JPY 4.2 million, negotiable based on prior salary and experience. Annual salary system with no bonus; discretionary labor system applied, including overtime allowance equivalent to 40 hours per month.
• Working hours: 9:00 to 18:00 (8 hours/day), flexible working system available. Holidays are Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. Paid leave is 20 days per year, prorated in the first year based on start date.
• Benefits: social insurance coverage (health insurance, welfare pension, employment insurance, workers' compensation insurance), annual health check up subsidy, self development allowance of up to JPY 120,000 per year on a reimbursement basis, company laptop provided, and paid overtime meals for in office overtime work.
• The role begins as a 1-year contract, with the possibility of a 1-year extension based on team feedback. Conversion to a permanent position will be considered after 2 years of continuous employment. Working visa sponsorship is available for successful candidates where needed. The employment contract will be managed through an EOR (Employer of Record) provider.

• SFOCのCommunications Divisionは、組織のミッション、政策の優先事項、気候関連の取り組みを多様なオーディエンスに効果的に伝えるための包括的なコミュニケーション戦略を策定し、実行しています。同部門は現在、韓国コミュニケーション、国際コミュニケーション、プロダクション、個人寄付の4つのチームで構成されています。
• 本ポジションは、韓国・日本チームと密接に連携しながら、SFOCのメディアでの存在感を強化し、気候・エネルギー転換に関する明確で説得力のあるナラティブを構築し、政策立案者、業界関係者、一般市民に影響を与えるキャンペーンを支援していただきます。

 

主な業務内容

• 主要な海外メディアとのリレーション構築および管理
• 英語でのストーリー、プレスリリース、メディアブリーフ、ファクトシートのリサーチ、執筆、ピッチ
• 国際メディアのモニタリングおよびナラティブ動向の分析、グローバルな議論を戦略的なインサイトとしてチームに展開
• グローバルNGO、シンクタンク、キャンペーンパートナーとの共同コミュニケーション企画のサポート
• COP、Climate Week、IMO会合など国際的な気候関連イベントに合わせたメディア戦略の策定および実行
• LNG、石炭、海運、鉄鋼、土地利用などの主要キャンペーン分野における国際コミュニケーション支援

• プレスリリース、ブリーフ、ピッチを独力でプロフェッショナルな水準で作成できる、優れた英語ライティング能力
• ネイティブまたはプロフェッショナルレベルの日本語力（JLPT N1相当）
• 国際的なメディア環境への深い理解、ジャーナリストとのエンゲージメント経験
• 気候、エネルギー、環境問題に対する強い関心と実務的な知識

• 給与：年俸420万円からスタート（直前の年収や経歴を考慮し、相互協議の上で変動可能性あり）。年俸制（賞与なし）。裁量労働制適用により、みなし残業40時間分を含む。
• 勤務時間：9:00〜18:00（所定労働時間8時間）、フレックスタイム制あり。休日は完全週休2日制（土曜日・日曜日）、祝日。年次有給休暇は20日（初年度は入社時期により異なります）。
